I know you know this already, but let me say it anyway, this journey is not for the faint of heart. The struggle is real. Every single day we have to fight to maintain our faith in order to keep making progress on this spiritual journey. Our spiritual growth is not automatic. We must be deliberate and intentional about it. The Word of God clearly let's us know that we engaged in warfare. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal...(II Cor 10:4a); This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare - I Tim 1:18. Paul encourages his protege Timothy to fight the good fight of faith (I Tim 6:12). Paul describes his journey with these words: I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection... - I Cor 9:26-27a. At the close of his journey he states I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith - II Tim 4:7. Our fight is not against flesh and blood. It is spiritual warfare. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places - Eph 6:12. Every believer has three enemies, Satan, the world system, and our very own flesh nature. Yes we fight daily, and some days we feel the effects of this daily struggle. In spite of the fact that we know the Word of God, there are just some days we end up feeling discouraged and defeatedSo what should we do? Just like a prize fighter who has had a bad round, we must go back to our corner and allow our trainer, the Holy Spirit to minister to our wounds, to encourage and remind us with the Word of God that: No weapon that is formed against us shall prosper - Is 54:17; Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world - I John 4:4; Nay in all these things we are more that conquerors through Him that loved us. Be encouraged, you see we are in it to win it! We are already victorious we just have to learn how to stand in faith ! daily fighting the fight, Diane p.s. Begin to ask God to give you a desire to grow closer to Him and to prepare you spiritually for the daily battle. |
