During this season as we celebrate the miraculous birth and wonderful gift of Christ, we will undoubtedly give and get many gifts. I am sure we will get some great gifts; but, regardless of what we give or get, we have already been given the best gift. For unto us a child is born, and unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace - Is 9:6. Unfortunately, we are so busy doing we don't take the time to really unwrap the "Gift". Think about what we do when we are presented with a gift. We usually receive it with excitement, wonder, and gratefulness. Then we sit down filled with curiosity and anticipation, we unwrap the gift and marvel at what we have been given. So let's take time this season to daily unwrap " The Gift". Sit in the presence of God and His word to appreciate what we have been given. The book of Ephesians is a perfect book to do just that because it deals with the Wealth (Chapters 1-3), the Walk (4-5) and the Warfare of the believer (Chapter 6). It also takes us through a progression of a believer who is first seen sitting in his or her position in Christ appreciating their wealth, then he or she is able to walk or practice their faith in his or her daily life, finally the believer will have the power to stand in warfare. As we unwrap our "Gift", we see that we have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph 1:3). We can marvel at the peace, pardon, forgiveness, eternal life and the Holy Spirit, which are just a few of our spiritual blessings. Then we see that we have been chosen in Him before the foundation the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love (Eph 1:4). Wow, before God said let there be light He chose us to be holy (set apart for His purposes) and because of Christ we stand before our heavenly without any blame. We are not an afterthought, but we were in His thoughts and plans before He created the universe. Our of Christ includes adoption: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of His will (Eph 1:5). We have given adult standing (adoption) so that we can immediately start to claim our spiritual inheritance. In other words, we don't have to wait to become spiritually mature before we can start receiving our blessings, our adoption allows gives us immediate access to our spiritual inheritance. Our precious gift of Christ includes redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace (Eph 1:7).We have been purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ, freed from the power of sin, Satan and the world. We are no longer slaves! We have been freed from the penalty of sin through the blood of Jesus Christ ! We have just begun to unwrap "The Gift". The more time we spend sitting in the presence of the word, the more we will appreciate "The Gift". Enjoy your Gift! still unwrapping my Gift, Diane |
